im a little addicted to antelope hunting, with my bow, you can spot and stalk, ground blind by waterhole, sometimes treestand, i tried everything lastyear!! elk hunting was awesome, i shot a cow my buddy called in at 25yds, you think whitetails have eyes, wow an elk doesn't seem to miss anything!! my friend tried to stop 2 separate cows to get them to stop for a shot, he tried the ole deer waaa!! they both spun and ran, he wasn't real happy with himself, it was a do it yourself hunt, hint!! take an experienced elk hunter with you!!
I am originally from Saskatchewan and loved to deer and antelope hunt. then i was introduced to the mountain hunting, big horn sheep in particular, now I am addicted! Hunting on foot in the mountains with packs is the most challenging hunting I have ever done as well every peak you cross is like you are discovering something new for the first time! Big Horn Sheep is where it is at for me these days.
Although I haven't done it, elk hunting seems pretty sweet. Defiantly my dream hunt. Bear hunting is one I have tried and recommend. Something about their eyes when they look at you and stare is kinda creepy. Like they are peering into your soul haha. Walking out at dark knowing they are nearby is kinda cool too. :)
My favorite has to be whitetail deer. Since moving to colorado I have seen several big whitetails, but Mule deer are fast becoming a great way to scratch the deer itch when there aren't any "Whities" around. But I still miss hearing the crunching leaves and wondering what's coming, or picking up a big track in the snow and outwitting Mr. Big in his own backyard. Well....gues the mulies will have to do until I can get a place to chase the whitetails again.
High country mulies! I am from alabama and have hunted whitetails my whole life. I have gone to colorado hunting public land DIY. I was fortunate enough to take a nice muley on my first trip and saw many others on both trips! I wasent able to go this year for the opener because we are having a baby girl and also buying a house. But my dad and i are planning on going this next august! There is just nothing like going into the mountains hunting high country mule deer with a bow and arrow!
Well guys and gals......I'm afraid I'm an elkoholic. I especially love doing the archery hunt and do have a tag this year and we have done our research. I like elk as they are so much of a challenge and a big, beautiful animal to pit yourself against their senses.
