Thanks for the feedback. I'm focusing on does and cow elk this season. I want meat for the freezer, that's all.

Thanks for the feedback! It's greatly appreciated!

macolsen, 10/13/2014 12:42pm
I'm interested in starting some early mock scrapes. Just wondering if you all have heard of any mock scrape kits that you start laying down in the summer. Like to find a good product and a good time to start

2muchland, 5/27/2014 11:23am
Hey wondering if you guys have an area on here for members to put in ideas that we may want to see to make this journal the best it can be? I have a few suggestions, and who knows maybe you guys are already working on this but would definitely like to start a discussion.

Thanks!

buckhunter21, 10/20/2013 0:37am
Thanks for the feedback about my moose. Greatly appreciated.

macolsen, 10/17/2013 8:14am
Nice job on the doves! I am so bummed we don't have that here in MI. I live in the mid/northern part surrounded by huge farm lands with tons of birds. I'd love to empty some boxes at those little speed demons.

quack-honk, 9/2/2013 9:12am
Thanks for the feedback. Hope the season is going well for you.

macolsen, 9/11/2012 9:09pm
Yeah, I made them from scratch. I had access to a a gentleman's home made meat grinder. He put the meat through twice, the first time coarse, with store bought animal fat and seasoning. Then it went through a kitchen meat grinder, put right into hog casings. That's the way to make them! Delicious!

macolsen, 7/30/2012 11:31am
I can't upload photos to my account. Is there a problem with your website?

macolsen, 5/4/2012 0:34am
Check out my latest journal entry. A 14-year-old recently got his first big game kill, an antleress elk.

macolsen, 1/11/2012 5:18pm
As im walking through site 2 i catch a glimpse of movement so i stop to get a better look and its a deer. So i start my stalk by dropping to the ground because i going to have to crawl about 20 yards up hill to get a better shot. i make it to the spot i wanna take the shot and i put it right behind the shoulder and watch the deer drop and starts kicking, grunting and making all kind of noises,so i thinks its over bet the deer starts trying to get up so im about to reload and take another shot but i cant find my bullets,so i have to run back 20 yards to get my backpack then back and as im loading the rifle the deer gets up and take off. I couldnt get another shot off so i waited for a few minutes then went to look for it but i didnt find the deer anywhere,. i know that i searched for two hours and still came up with nothing... I hope that it didnt jump in the creek. What should i do?

Kamo-Krazy, 12/15/2011 2:28pm

jrodnum2, 10/17/2011 10:18pm
Thanks for the welcome, this sat. 15 Oct. will be my first time in the field this year. I will be going to my property in Elk County Pa. for the early muzzle loader season, possibly bow hunting also. Will report when I get back on the 24th.

macolsen, 10/3/2011 11:56am
I have definitely developed an addiction for trail cameras! I wasn't fussy about using them until last year. I thought they violated the spirit of fair chase, but realize they are another valuable tool for hunting big game! I plan to get another in about a week and will use it on someone else's land.

macolsen, 9/29/2011 1:40am
Correction! The photo is of two coyotes, not wolves!

macolsen, 9/27/2011 0:33am
Check out my latest photo of two wolves from trail camera!

macolsen, 9/27/2011 0:05am
Thanks for the welcome! I have added a few pics.

RETCOPSKIP, 9/4/2011 12:21pm
Thanks for the welcome. In NH start's September 15th for buck's only, then Oct.1st any deer. NH is not an easy place to hunt. The biggest deer I ever got was a 9pt, in northern NH about 15yrs ago. I've shot to 8 pts. in NY. When does your season start? Thanks Tim

Tim441, 8/29/2011 8:11pm

wvpymbr, 11/30/2009 4:51pm
WATER FOWLING IS A DRUG AND I MAINLINE IT!!! I TAKE THREE WEEK OFF DURING THE SEASON TO HUNT EVERYDAY. THEN I TAKE 1 DAY OFF IN CONJUNCTION WITH MY OFF DAYS THAT MAKES FOUR HUNTS I WORK MIDS. SO I'M ON THE WATER A LOT. WHEN THE PUDDLERS GO SHY I TURN TO DIVERS. WARNING!!!! THIS SPORT HAS RUINED A FEW GOOD DEER HUNTERS!!!

N2QUACK, 11/20/2009 1:44pm
Any new info on that buck that has successfully eluded you yet?

crackedup, 11/14/2009 7:19pm
Thanks for the congrats. My son just turned 11 years old. My season's goal was for him to harvest his first deer. He informed me that I could go hunting by myself for a "couple of trips" Now if "Big Boy" would just stroll past me.............

lostinbass, 11/10/2009 1:04pm
I do have a question about the captions on my photos. I'm able to put captions on the photo's that are on the bottom row in my profile. However, the photos on the top when I try to put a caption on them, the box that pops up for me to type in is hidden behind the pictures in the bottom row. Does this make sense?

HunterMom, 11/5/2009 5:35am
Fulshear is about 25 minutes west of Houston but I shot those cranes up in the pan handle while I was at college at Texas Tech, tons of birds up there. If your buddy wants to do some public hunting up by Dallas I have a good buddy that was in the Wildlife program with me up at tech that is a biologist out on Cooper WMA. (just east of Dallas). He always shoots tons of woodies, teal, and mallards.

duckhunter88, 11/3/2009 10:27am
My son just turned 11. Thanks for the message. Hope to get him a deer soon. I belong to a bowhunting only club. The other guys said that they wouldn't m ind if my son used a gun for his first deer, but we will try with the crossbow until he gets too frustrated.

lostinbass, 11/3/2009 8:00am

Thanks for the message. Waiting for the opener on Thursday.

I live in Alabama. Winfield is a small town about 30 miles west of the Al.- Miss. state line. It is basically in the central part of the state as far as north and south go. Our season starts on Thurs. Looking forward to getting out and being in the deer woods hunting. I have an ex brother in law that used to live up there in your neck of the woods. I used to get jealous of some of the pictures of the deer he would send me. Ya'll sure do have some nice bucks up that way.

medic308, 10/11/2009 4:48pm
Nice Journals!

ChevyMama99, 10/8/2009 5:42pm

Sean,

Here is some info on the NWTF 2010 Convention for exhibitors. Even with out a booth, it would still be a fun event.

DBG, I did get an e-mail notification, and the link work perfectly, thanks.

evilbeliever, 9/23/2009 8:53am
Well the early goose season is done.

For my personal kills my lowest ever on geese, but got 2 leg bands. As a whole with the friends I hunt with one of the best for total goose kills.

I have to admit I have a very good group of friends I hunt with!

Allflocked Up, Sean. CJ. Marc, etc. All diehards for waterfowlering that all want to go the extra mile to be successful!

Almost ready for bow season now. The treestands and locations are ready, and the mineral licks are re established.

Just have to wait to kill a buck and a doe now. I basically shoot the first buck that comes in ranger for the meat, and also to have more time for waterfowl hunting.

jeffk, 9/18/2009 8:14am
Thanks for the welcome! Very cool site.

TopPin, 9/16/2009 5:49pm
we were hunting a clearing in an old bayou, it has a small island in the center that has open holes on two sides that angle each other and both but up to a sage grass field. its not a very big spot at all. if you'll look at my my maps it call the 5 pole hole and it'll be on the west side of the map.

quackstacker62, 9/16/2009 1:29am
hey man dont give up on the thick stuff trust theres a big one in there somewhere there always is

quackstacker62, 9/15/2009 5:46pm
Quick thought on notifications - i think we talked about this the other day, but I just logged in and realized I had a friend request waiting... seems that would be a good email notification item (also, it didn't really stick out too much in my feed... seems there should be a "friend feed" and a "notification" feed of some sort so i can quickly differentiate and respond to "action items"...

GreatOutdoorsT, 8/23/2009 11:46am
hey duckbuckgoose. thanks for the welcome! the site looks good, i'm looking forward to getting my journal setup. i hunt with jeffk quite a bit, and dropped some decoys off to him the other day and he told me about your site. maybe we can all get together for a hunt if you make the trip up here again this season.

bob

allflockedup, 8/3/2009 11:44am
