A Great Hunt with Dad - Jan. 29, 2012

Sunday was the last day of the 2011 and 2012 waterfowl season in my part of Ohio. As has become the norm, the action just seems to get good at the very tail end of the season. This day was no different.

On Saturday I headed up to do some scouting at one of the farms we hunt, near Jeffersonville. We had recently had heavy rains so the whole area was flooded. It was also unusually loaded with ducks and geese (at noon).

As im walking through site 2 i catch a glimpse of movement so i stop to get a better look and its a deer. So i start my stalk by dropping to the ground because i going to have to crawl about 20 yards up hill to get a better shot. i make it to the spot i wanna take the shot and i put it right behind the shoulder and watch the deer drop and starts kicking,grunting and making all kind of noises,so i thinks its over bet the deer starts trying to get up so im about to reload and take another shot but i cant find my bullets,so i have to run back 20 yards to get my backpack then back and as im loading the rifle the deer gets up and take off. I couldnt get another shot off so i waited for a few minutes then went to look for it but i didnt find the deer anywhere,. i know that i searched for two hours and still came up with nothing... I hope that it didnt jump in the creek.What should i do?

Thank you for the welcome, hoping to dig into this further overtime, looking forward to keeping weather, stats about certain stands, etc. heading for my stand soon hope this full moon coming is a good sign!
